Since their start in the early 2020s, MODUS BLACK has been making a name for themselves with heavy rock, intense energy, and a unique sound. They are the band for all those who want to not only hear Heavy Metal but feel it. Raw, dark, and uncompromisingly honest, handmade music with songs that come straight from the heart and soul and go straight to your core. They lead their listeners through the darkness and don’t let them go until the night is over.
The idea for MODUS BLACK arose from a jam connection between singer and guitarist Fabi Beck and drummer Basti Volz that had grown over many years. Over time, spontaneous sessions turned into their own songs. In early 2024, TJ joined as bassist and completed the trio. In the same year, the band also presented their debut album. “Evil vs. Evil” is an uncompromising mix of nasty riffs, haunting choruses, and raw live power. It is ideal for fans of classic metal as well as friends of more modern heavy sounds. Their first single, “Gold Rush,” already shows how versatile and yet authentic the band’s style is.
In addition, MODUS BLACK is a live experience for anyone who likes it loud and passionate. They have gained a loyal fan base through many concerts in the region and later beyond the borders of southern Germany. The first major milestone followed promptly at the band contest organized by “Die Neue 107.7,” the most listened-to local radio station in Baden-Württemberg. MODUS BLACK secured first place and with it a celebrated performance at the “Flammende Sterne Festival” in Ostfildern.
Recording for the second album “From The Basement” began in the first half of 2025. But for various reasons, Fabi and Basti had to be patient until their masterpiece found its way to the public. First, TJ left the band due to musical differences, and then a suitable home for the album had to be found. But the wait was worth it. With Metalapolis Records, they now have the right partner at their side, and the nine new songs, framed by an intro and outro, are the band’s next logical step in the right direction. Earthy and straightforward, without losing sight of their musical roots. Because this is not about trends, but about real, handmade music with attitude. About honest energy and music that lasts.
