Beschreibung

Founded as a school band in Rottweil/Germany in the early 80s, DARK SKY was on the
international map for the first time in the 90s with their debut album ‘Believe It’, which
had big success in Asia, especially in Malaysia. 2002 was the release of the second album
‘Edge Of Time’, which brought them on the map in their home country as well. It was
followed by ‘Living & Dying’, ‘Empty Faces’ and ‘Initium’, which showed the band from their
harder side without losing their trademark melodies. After the release of their live
album/DVD in 2018, the band began to collect ideas for the new album. Since we all know
what happened in 2020, it is no surprise that it took so long to finish the album. During
the pandemic all band members except founding member and main man Frank Breuninger
left the band and ended their musical careers. With Harold Merkx on keys, Jadro Bastalic
on guitar, Francesco Pisana on bass and Steff Grimm on drums he quickly found new
musicians who brought fresh wind into the band.
‘Signs Of The time’ again was produced by the bands long-time producer and friend Markus
Teske (Symphony X, Vanden Plas). Since DARK SKY has a long friendship with the German
uprising, fresh superstars KISSIN’ DYNAMITE, Frank decided to write some songs with
them. ‘Forgiveness’ is based on an old idea from KD singer Hannes Braun, which Frank
finished and made it to a song. Former KD Drummer Andi Schnitzer (who played a few
shows with DARK SKY as their fill-in drummer) wrote the lyrics for the song ‘You and Me’
and helped with the lyrics for ‚Heroes On Ice‘, the hymn for the band’s favorite
ice hockey team Schwenninger Wild Wings. ‘Signs Of The Time’ is the bands heaviest
output so far and the beginning of a new journey!
