DEFENDER is one of the hardest-hitting German bands of the New Wave Of Traditional Heavy Metal (NWOTHM), founded in 2016 in Balingen. By now they count among the leading figures of the new True Metal scene. If you had to describe the band in three words, young, wild and metal would definitely make the cut.
Sonically, DEFENDER move between the raw Teutonic Metal of 1986 and the driving speed and heavy metal sound of the old Hamburg school à la HELLOWEEN and RUNNING WILD. Anyone who thinks that sound is outdated in 2026 has simply never been to one of their live shows. They’ve already shared the stage with ROSS THE BOSS, GIRLSCHOOL, NIGHT DEMON and STORMWITCH, rocking festival stages both at home and abroad.
Few bands live and breathe Heavy Metal as uncompromisingly on and off stage as DEFENDER. Their motto „Live Heavy Metal to the fullest, Heavy Metal is the life we choose“ is no empty phrase for the quartet, it’s their round-the-clock reality. It began in 2018 with the debut EP „Rising High“, followed in 2019 by the single „Beyond Darkness“, and in 2024 they paid tribute to the legendary, now-defunct Bang Your Head Festival from their home region with „Bang Your Head Again“. Three releases that got the scene talking. The provisional high point came in 2025 with their celebrated debut album „Dying To Live“, which finally cemented DEFENDER’s name in the scene.
On November 20th, 2026, DEFENDER will release their eagerly awaited second album „Titans of Fire“ on CD, vinyl and digital. Once again recorded at the renowned Empire Studios under the direction of Rolf Munkes, it delivers ten songs in true DEFENDER style, packed with razor-sharp riffs, blistering twin-guitar solos, precise drumming and earworm melodies just waiting to lodge themselves in your ears.
Whether longtime fan or newcomer, with „Titans of Fire“ DEFENDER takes everyone on a Heavy Metal journey that will resonate long after the last note fades!
